The statistic displays the results of a survey question conducted by Ipsos, concerning perceived and actual causes of violent deaths in Sweden in 2018. Close to a third of the respondents believed that the most common cause of death through interpersonal violence was by firearms. The actual percentage of people dying by firearms, however, was significantly lower, at 18 percent. The most common cause of interpersonal death in Sweden was neither by firearms nor by knives, but by other types of violence.
