Leading food retailers in Russia 2024, by market share

The X5 Retail Group, which includes Pyaterochka, Perekrestok, and Chizhik brands, had the largest share in the Russian food retail market at over ** percent in 2024. The group reported a revenue of over *** trillion Russian rubles in that year, having earned ** percent more than in the previous year. 

Magnit in European and global rankings

Magnit, the second-leading food retailer in Russia, accounted for an **-percent share in the country’s food retail market. With a revenue of nearly ** billion euros in 2024, it ranks among Europe’s highest-earning food retail companies. Furthermore, Magnit is one of the largest employers worldwide, counting ******* staff. The company was founded in 1994 and has its headquarters in Krasnodar. 

Russian e-grocery market leaders

Online grocery shopping has become a habit of many Russians, and some of the leading food retailers are also among the highest-earning e-grocery providers, such as VkusVill, SberMarket, and the X5 Group. Pyaterochka’s mobile app became Russia's most downloaded food delivery and takeout app in 2024 after it was installed almost ** million times.
