Worldwide, electronics and automotive cover more than half of the industrial robotics market. In 2018, the sales value of robots in the automotive industry was estimated to amount to almost 4.8 billion U.S. dollars and in the electronics industry to some 4.7 billion U.S. dollars. The sales value of the global industrial robotics market was estimated to surpass 17 billion U.S. dollars in 2018. However, the sales values in all application areas are forecast to shrink between 2019 and 2020, but should pick up again in 2021. In 2022, the global sales value of industrial robotics is expected to reach 15 billion U.S. dollars.
