In the years 2018 to 2020, the highest maternal death rate across India was observed amongst women between 20 and 29 years old with a share of 62 percent of the total maternal deaths. Since 20 to 35 years is the most common age for child-bearing in the country, the maternal death rate is also highest in these age groups compared to others.
