
Respondents' opinions on sugar tax being beneficial Singapore 2019
According to a survey conducted in Singapore in July 2019, around 46 percent of the respondents believed that the implementation of a sugar tax would be beneficial to Singaporeans. By comparison, 25 percent of the respondents were of the opinion that it would be detrimental instead. In December 2018, the Singaporean Ministry of Health began a consultation exercise to seek the public's feedback on measures to fight diabetes, which included a ban on high-sugar packet drinks and the implementation of a sugar tax in Singapore.
