The total liabilities of the non-deposit taking systematically important non-banking financial companies across India were nearly 38 trillion Indian rupees as of the financial year 2023. Bank borrowings were the largest component of the total liabilities.
Overall the NBFC sector in India has been facing challenging times on the liquidity front since fiscal year 2018 and the Reserve Bank of India has put in various intervention measures to address these concerns.
