The temperature on the ocean surface has varied considerably in the period between 1900 and 2008. While the ocean surface in the region located south from Greenland has decreased in temperature by some 0.8 degrees Celsius, in the Chinese Seas the ocean surface has increased by 2.1 degrees Celsius in the same period. Globally, over the last 100 years, the global ocean surfaces have increased in temperature by around 0.6 degrees Celsius.
