In 2017, the European production of packaging paper and board reached 48.2 million metric tons, with Germany being the first producer in the EU. In particular, Germany reported an output of 11.8 million metric tons, followed by Sweden with 6.2 million metric tons. The segment of graphic paper had lower volumes, as the European output for 2017 was nearly 32 million metric tons.
