The percentage of road transport in total inland freight transport in Germany saw no significant changes in 2022 in comparison to the previous year 2021 and remained at around 73.4 percent. Still, 2022 marked the second consecutive decline of the percentage of road transport.
According to Eurostat, road transport is collected based on all movements of vehicles registered in the reporting country and thus further methodological developments and computations were needed to be done by Eurostat for estimating road transport according to the 'territoriality principle'.
