Chinese singles living in the less developed cities were more likely to use matchmaking services offline. According to a survey about online dating in China in August 2018, around 38.7 percent of the Chinese respondents who lived in the fourth-tier cities had used offline matchmaking services. Owing to the decades long one-child policy, a skewed sex ratio has developed in China. Many single Chinese men, especially migrant workers, have difficulties finding a dating partner.
