Ownership of U.S. corporate bonds 2007-2018
In 2018, around 28 percent of U.S. corporate bonds where held by non-U.S. investors; a very similar number to the 27 percent of corporate bonds held by non-U.S. investors in 2007. However, during this time, the share of corporate bonds held by banks declined significantly, dropping from 13 percent to five percent.
