According to a survey conducted in November 2021 among locals of the 47 prefectures in Japan, around 51 percent of residents living in Aomori reported to have a friend-like relationship to their children. The parent-child-friendship refers to a relationship which resembles the friendship between teenagers, in which the child is not raised through authority but treated as an equal by its parents.
