Italian households' annual expenditure on pharmaceuticals and other therapeutic devices covered by voluntary health insurance schemes showed an overall increase from 2012 to 2023. Indeed, as the graph shows, after starting at 224 million euros in 2012, Italian families’ spending on pharmaceuticals and therapeutic devices covered by health insurance reached its lowest value in 2015, with 199 million euros. This figure increased again in the following years and peaked at 371 million euros in 2023.
