Sales volume of Maruti Suzuki passenger cars in India April 2025, by model
In April 2025, close to 140,000 units of passenger cars from Maruti Suzuki were sold across India. Dzire and Vitara Brezza were the most popular models sold during the presented period. In the financial year 2025, more than 4.1 million passenger vehicles were sold in India.
Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki is an automobile manufacturer based in New Delhi, India. It is a joint venture between the state established Maruti Udyog Limited and Japanese auto manufacturer Suzuki Motors. Thanks to its early entry into the Indian passenger vehicle market in 1982 and suitable portfolio, Maruti has been the dominant player in the passenger vehicle market for many years. It became the only car manufacturer in India to sell over 20 million passenger vehicles cumulatively at the end of 2019.
Body types of passenger vehicles
In the passenger vehicles segment in India, cars are categorized into four body types, namely SUV/crossover, hatchback, MUV and sedan. For many years, the hatchback was the most popular type of passenger vehicle sold in India. But recently, SUV/crossover has caught up and surpassed hatchback. The most popular SUV/crossover in 2024 was Tata Punch.
