Number of book buyers in Germany 2007-2023

Most recently there were 25 million book buyers in Germany. This was, so far, the lowest number recorded during the observed time period. The number of book buyers in Germany peaked in 2012 at almost 37 million, decreasing annually afterwards. But even in 2007, at 33.6 million buyers, the number was higher than in 2023. These developments may partially be connected to rising e-book sales in Germany.
