Number of employees in urban and rural areas of China 2014-2024

In 2024, around 473 million people were employed in urban areas of China, while around 261 million were employed in rural areas. The number of urban employees has increased considerably over the last decades. However, the growth of the urban workforce is slowing down as the total number of employees in China has already been decreasing since 2014.
