Hochtief had the biggest total output of any German construction firm in 2023. At nearly 28 billion euros, the value of work carried out by Hochtief was higher than that of the next four companies in the ranking combined. When it comes to construction, German companies do not play that big of a role within Europe: construction firms from France and Spain, for instance, dominated a Europe league table based on market cap.

* These are foreign companies, but this statistic only presents data for their German-based subsidiary. Data for Strabag also excludes data for its subsidiary Züblin.
** 2023 figures account for the revenue of that company and not the value of its total output. The 2022 figures VINCI Deutschland and Kaefer Isoliertechnik also accounted for their revenue.
