Share of companies of the tourism industry in Italy at high risk of insolvency 2020

A forecast from March 2020 revealed that the share of hotel and catering companies in Italy at high risk of insolvency was expected to increase significantly in 2020 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. In a scenario with no coronavirus emergency, potential insolvent companies would have been 7.4 percent of all enterprises in this sector. On the other hand, in a scenario where the global coronavirus pandemic will last until the end of summer 2020, roughly 8.8 percent of hotel and catering companies were expected to face a high risk of insolvency in 2020.
