Trade balance of steel by region 2023

In 2024, China was the largest steel exporter, with a trade balance of 83.2 million metric tons. By contrast, the EU and North America were net importers of this commodity. That year, the difference between North America's imports and exports of steel amounted to 41.1 million metric tons.
