In 2020, BNP Paribas made a new commitment goal for 2021: to increase its investments and financing with a positive impact by ten billion euros per year on average over the period between 2019 and 2021. As of 2020, the bank reached a cumulative value of 188 billion euros in positive impact investments and financing, an increase of eight billion euros compared to 2019.
BNP Paribas includes in the definition of positive impact financing and investments; "supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and contributing to more inclusive growth, contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), financing social entrepreneurship, development of Social Impact
Bonds, and the creation of the BNP Paribas European Social Impact Bonds fund with the European Investment Fund, designing and promoting Socially Responsible Investment funds (SRI), and Tailored advice and support.
