HSBC has succeeded in decreasing their carbon dioxide emissions in recent years. Their CO2 emissions per full-time employee dropped from around 2.49 tonnes per employee in 2017, down to 1.1 tonnes per employee in 2024.
Globally, financial corporations are taking action to reduce their carbon footprint in accordance with the Paris Agreement. Alongside the reduction of CO2 emissions, many banks have made financial pledges to fund and facilitate more sustainable projects.
