Both foreign currency and sterling assets held at UK-owned monetary financial institutions increased between January 2014 and February 2025, following more or less the same development. As of February 2025, banks in the UK held roughly 3.3 trillion British pounds in sterling assets and 2.15trillion British pounds worth of foreign currency assets.
