Due to the impact of global lockdowns caused by spread of coronavirus, transport across the world fell considerably. Because of this, oil demand across the world declined noticeably during the first half of 2020 when compared to the previous year, with demand in the United States falling by eight million barrels of oil per day in April. It is projected that demand will recover in the second half of 2020 as countries gradually begin to ease lockdowns.
