Over the past years, professional sports leagues have gained significant popularity, offering great entertainment to fans watching live in the stadiums and back home on TV. However, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in 2020 had a huge impact on the sport industry, leading to the cancelation of many leagues and championships across all sports. One way in which professional sports were safely reintroduced was to play the games out in empty stadiums with no fans in attendance. In a survey conducted in the United States in May 2020, eight percent of respondents stated that they were much less likely to watch a sporting event on television if there were no fans in attendance.
