Almost 8.8 million students were enrolled in basic general education, or grades five to nine, in Russia at the beginning of the school year 2023/24. Furthermore, around 1.3 million started their 10th or 11th grade in September 2023. The total number of general education students in Russia reached roughly 17.8 million.
