Payment card transactions at POS terminals in the EU were worth about 2.1 trillion euros in 2022, the third year in a row where this figure increased. This figure equals roughly 2.2 trillion U.S. dollars. Note that figures do not include the United Kingdom. This is important to mention as, before Brexit, the UK accounted for one third of such payments in the EU.
