A survey conducted in China in May 2020 about children's basic financial awareness revealed that according to the responding children, 36 percent of the parents of six years old children would decide for them what to buy without asking their opinion. When growing older, the children expressed their opinion more and parents would tend to let them decide more.

The children answered the survey in the presence of their parents.

Of the 156 children taking part in the survey, 36 were six years old, 43 were 10 years old, and 77 were 12 years old.
