Leading South Korean auto parts suppliers in global top 100 rankings 2021, by sales

Hyundai Mobis and eight other South Korean auto parts manufacturers were ranked in the top 100 automobile parts suppliers in the world, by sales value. Hyundai Mobis was in 7th place, the highest ranking of all the Korean companies, and made over 25 billion U.S. dollars in sales in 2021. Three of the others were also members of the Hyundai Motor Group conglomerate. 


Autonomous car market set for significant growth

The global autonomous car market had been steadily growing and was expected to expand significantly in the coming years. In the near future, many vehicles sold worldwide were forecast to have at least Level 2 autonomy, with most being equipped with basic autonomous functionalities. The overall share of such  vehicles was expected to remain stable, but more advanced autonomous-driving features were projected to gradually enter the market. Although consumer interest in autonomous vehicles had shown slight fluctuations in South Korea, the market there was also experiencing steady growth.


Positive outlook on autonomous vehicles 

A significant number of people in South Korea were aware of autonomous vehicles (AVs) and had some understanding of the functions. Many perceived AVs as a forward-thinking technology, expressing optimism about their future potential. While there were some concerns about the current state of driverless technology, the overall perspective remained positive. This showed a mixture of excitement for the future and cautious optimism about the progress of AV development.
