According to the mobile payment survey conducted in 2023, around 13 percent of mobile payment users in China lived in municipalities such as Beijing and Tianjin. From the graph, it becomes clear that mobile payment usage is heavily skewed towards urban areas as only 6 percent of users live in villages.
