Mexico: shopping malls GLA 2019, by format

In 2019, from a total of 27.31 million square meters of gross leasable area (GLA) in shopping centers in Mexico, 14.63 million corresponded to power centers. Meanwhile, around 467 thousand square meters of GLA corresponded to outlet malls.

Power center is a shopping center with typically 250 thousand to 600 thousand square feet (23 thousand to 56 thousand square meters) of gross leasable area that usually contains three or more big box retailers and other smaller retailers. A big box store is a physically large retail establishment, usually part of a chain of stores.
