Local private collectors were the main buyers in the global art dealer market in 2024, accounting for 52 percent of the total sales' value. In contrast, only seven percent of art dealer sales worldwide came from acquisitions by local and international museums.

¹ Data refers to an annual study including an online survey distributed to the memberships of some of the main dealer associations worldwide (such as CINOA, ADAA, CPGA, SLAD, FEAGA) and national associations. In addition, Art Basel directly distributed a survey to individual galleries that participated in their shows in Basel, Miami Beach, Paris, and Hong Kong.

The source specified that the online survey included just under 1,600 responses in 2024, while the survey distributed by Art Basel during its shows that year was given to nearly 700 individual galleries.
