Biotechnology industry expenses in Spain 2022, by nature of the expense
In 2022, the current expenses in the Spanish biotechnology sector amounted to over 2.3 billion euros. By nature of the expense, approximately 40 percent, or about 950 million euros, were assigned to the remuneration of researchers. Meanwhile, the wages of technicians and assistants represented over 421 million euros of the current expenses of the sector. That year, the total expenditure on R&D for biotechnology totaled about 2.5 billion euros in Spain.
