As of 2022, the total primary energy consumption in Egypt amounted to roughly 4.05 quadrillion British thermal units. Natural gas was the source with the highest share with up to 54.8 percent of the total energy consumption. Petroleum and other liquids came next with roughly 41.2 percent, while renewables and others', and coals' share was only two percent and 1.7 percent, respectively.
