In 2022, over 171 million bottles of sparkling wine were sold across French hyper and supermarkets. Sales of closed tanks and traditional methods sparkling wines amounted to roughly 53 million bottles out of the whole sales volume, while over 44 million bottles of sparkling wines with a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) were sold that same year.
