According to a survey conducted in January 2021, around 30.3 percent of users of the leading South Korean cryptocurrency exchanges Bithumb and Upbit were in their 40s, taking the largest share among all age groups. Including those over 50, about half of the users were in their 40s or 50s.
Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are currently not considered legal tender or financial assets in South Korea, yet the South Korean crypto market has grown extensively in the last few years.
