In the financial year 2022/23, there were nearly ** million subscriptions to adult and junior individual savings accounts (ISAs) in the United Kingdom. Most of those subscriptions were for adult ISAs, although the number of contributions to junior accounts increased rapidly after their introduction in 2011. The number of ISA subscriptions peaked at over ** million in 2008/09 and 2010/11. The type of account with the highest number of subscriptions was cash ISAs.
