The number of secondary residences is not evenly distributed among the different French regions. As of January 1, 2015, a majority of second homes were located in coastal regions, such as Provence-Alpes-Côtes d'Azur or New Aquitaine. Moreover, the region having the most secondary homes in France was Occitania at the beginning of 2015, with over 17 percent of the total number of second residences in France.
