As of 2020, roughly 18 thousand people were enrolled in teacher training institutions in Kenya. The number of trainees pursuing a qualification in primary and secondary school teacher colleges decreased roughly by half compared to the previous year when the count was over 31 thousand. Likewise, the number of teacher training institutions in the country declined strongly that year.
