According to a survey conducted in December 2020, around 58 percent of Chinese respondents said the most effective way for promoting sustainable consumption was reading negative news on environmental issues. Approximately 40 percent of respondents believed that the influence of friends and family was the best way to promote sustainable shopping.

The survey was conducted among:
49.72 percent of female respondents and 50.28 percent male respondents.
6.87 percent aged 20 years and below, 32.86 percent aged 21 to 30 years, 24.96 percent aged 31 to 40 years, 14.62 percent aged 41 to 50 years, 14.89 percent aged 51 to 60 years, and 5.81 percent aged above 60 years.
