Opinion on borrowing money in Japan 2024

In a survey conducted in Japan between July and August 2024, almost 32 percent of respondents at least somewhat agreed with the statement that one should not borrow money under any circumstances. At the same time, around 36 percent of the respondents stated they would proactively borrow money for personal investment.

The gender and age distribution of the sample of 2,200 persons is based on statistical data from Japan Credit Information Reference Center Corp as of March 2024.
