As of March 2022, the total value of deposits in Tanzanian commercial banks reached some 28.2 trillion TZS, roughly 12 billion U.S. dollars. Deposits in national currency were measured at approximately 10 trillion TZS (4.6 billion U.S. dollars). Moreover, other deposits, including time and saving deposits, totaled 9.8 trillion TZS (4.2 billion U.S. dollars). Additionally, around 7.5 trillion TZS (3.1 billion U.S. dollars) in foreign currency were placed in Tanzanian commercial banks in the same period.
