According to a survey among South Koreans in 2020 on their reasons for subscribing to new streaming services, around a third of respondents answered that they did so because the newly subscribed to service offered content they wanted to watch. Another important factor for subscribing to streaming services was that most people spend more time at home due to the effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19), with 32.8 percent of respondents giving this as their reason.
