Based on an online survey carried out between June and July 2020, 59 percent of the Southern African businesses that took part in the study requested working capital from financial institutions during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Moreover, some 19 percent contacted financial institutions for asset financing, while 16 percent sought debt recovery delays. Only six percent approached financial institutions for new products.
