As of 2024, the vast majority of high net worth individuals (HNWIs) surveyed noted having basic estate planning documents in place. Basic estate planning typically includes writing of a will, medical directives, and revocable trusts. Advanced documents include irrevocable trusts, less than 20 percent of HNWIs noted having advanced documents in-place. While 15 percent of respondents noted having no documents in place.
