Chancellor preference in Germany 2024-2025

On the eve of the next German election, due to be held on February 23, 2025, the preferred Chancellor of Germany for 32 percent of voters was the leader of the CDU, Friedrich Merz. Around 21 percent of voters preferred the Green Party leader, Robert Habeck, to the other candidates for Chancellor, with the current Chancellor and SPD leader Olaf Scholz on 18 percent, and AfD leader Alice Weidel on 14 percent.
