As of 2019/2020, the area planted of sugarcane in Zimbabwe amounted to close to 48.9 thousand hectares. Compared to the preceding year, the area allocated to sugarcane plantations increased by around 1.9 thousand hectares. Overall, since 2014/2015 a rising trend in the area planted with sugarcane can be noticed. Furthermore, the positive trend is estimated to continue in the future with a forecast of reaching 54 thousand hectares by 2021/2022.
