In India in 2023, the most number of films released were in Telugu, tallying 317 films. This was followed by film releases in Tamil and Kannada. That year saw a 11 percent increase in film releases compared to 2022, reflecting a hope to return to normalcy since the coronavirus pandemic outbreak.
