Following a sharp drop in the first quarter of 2020 due to the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the net assets of regulated open-end funds worldwide increased to have full recovered by the fourth quarter of 2021. At the end of 2022, net assets of mutual funds amounted to a value of approximately 42.3 trillion U.S. dollars, while the net assets of exchange traded funds (ETFs) and money market funds worldwide were valued at around 8.9 and 8.8 trillion U.S. dollars, respectively.
