The SPD won the highest number of seats in the German elections of 2021, with approximately 206 of the Bundestag's 735 seats going to the party. In order to form a government, the SPD will have to form a coalition with other parties such as Die Grünen or the pro-business FDP party, although there are various coalition possibilities, some of which even exclude the SPD.
