An analysis on how the environmental, social and governance (ESG) score is correlated the market capitalization of companies worldwide in 2019 shows an overall trend that, the higher a company's market capitalization, the higher their ESG score is likely to be. This conclusion however needs to be tempered by the caveat that there was a notable difference between various ESG score providers. Two providers showed a clear pattern of given their highest scores to companies with a high market cap, with their top 10 percent of ESG scores going to companies with a average market capitalization at least 50 percent higher than any other ESG score band. However, this difference was not so pronounced with all providers, and three providers had the highest average market cap in a band other than their top ten percent of ESG scores.
